COOL LINK Semen Delivery Service

In line with our continuing commitment to improve our service, we now have a fleet of temperature controlled delivery vehicles to ensure that all semen is delivered in the very best condition. The vehicles' customised shelving ensures an even airflow and a constant temperature of 17°C, which, tests show, is the optimum temperature to maintain maximum semen quality and fertility. Launched in 2002, the service boasts a 100% delivery record and the fleet of vans covers most areas of the country from the Scottish Highlands down to Devon.

The Cool Link courier service is part of the innovative JSR Genetics Cool Chain concept, which won the best new product award at the Pig and Poultry Fair in May 2004.

COOL CHAIN

'A series of inter-connected quality links to maintain the optimal environment for the boar semen from collection to conception'

As the first link in the Cool Chain, we take stringent measures to ensure the strictest protocols and quality control during collection and processing at an optimum thermal environment in our Cool Labs, with all semen tested on site and samples sent on a regular basis to independent laboratories for health screening and quality testing.

After delivery of the semen to your farm, we recommend the use of our specially developed Cool Locker storage box to maintain the semen at 17°C that holds between 150 and 180 doses of semen. To maintain biosecurity, this can be sited outside the farm as it is operated by either a 12-volt battery or mains electricity.

To complete the package, a small, lightweight insulated Cool Bag, carries up to 24 doses, the catheters and other insemination equipment, and helps to maintain a stable temperature right up to insemination.
