The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.
Below outlines how we are contributing to these goals through day-to-day business at JSR as well as the Topigs Norsvin breeding programme:
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Our contribution: Selecting lean and robust animals that produce high-quality meat with lesser need for antibiotics.
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Our contribution: JSR Academy to train and develop the next generation of skilled workers for our industry.
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Our contribution: Increasing renewable energy sources on our units in the form of solar panels and wind turbines to power areas of the JSR business.
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Our contribution: Improving the efficiency of pork production by monitoring performance, selecting more feed-efficient animals that produce more high-quality protein, improving animal health to reduce losses and increasing usage of home-grown raw materials in our feed rations. All of this results in reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
Our contribution: Management of forestry and hedgerows and planting of wildflower for wildlife habitats.
